In one of Idaho’s wildest conservation stories, a group of beavers took to the skies in the late 1940s—literally parachuting into the wilderness. Game wardens used surplus WWII parachutes to safely relocate the critters from overpopulated areas to remote mountain meadows where their dam-building skills could help restore wetlands. The operation was a quirky success, proving that in Idaho, even the beavers have an adventurous streak.
